Internships
Each year Asolo Repertory Theatre welcomes interns from all over the country. Internships are available in development, educational outreach, dramaturgy, directing, theatre administration, marketing and public relations, stage management, and development and grant writing. Interns work under the guidance of theatre professionals in a supportive, professional environment. We are equipped to develop and supervise a program consistent with your goals and needs. We will be happy to coordinate credit internships with your advisor. Internships are available during the academic year and over the summer. Most include a stipend and/or housing. Administration Internship
The intern assists in the areas of administration, dramaturgy and company management to ensure smooth daily operations. Candidates should have strong skills in the areas of organization, coordination, management and scheduling. Interns will gain experience working with the three major performing arts unions, learn aspects of board of directors interaction and have the opportunity to explore many different areas of artistic administration. Development Internships
Interns have two major responsibilities: administrative (database, mailings, special projects) and event planning/logistics. Evening work at the theatre is lots of fun! Education Internships
During the season, education internships include dramaturgical research and writing, support for Access to the Arts teacher workshops, student matinees, as well as administrative support for theatre classes and performing with the Kaleidoscope Touring Company. Opportunities for assistant director positions for Mertz Theatre plays are usually available to education interns on request. Summer education internships include rehearsal support and performance with our acclaimed Kaleidoscope Summer Music Theatre Workshop for older teens and adults with developmental disabilities. Marketing and Public Relations Internships
The marketing department offers meaningful experiences and valuable training for recent college graduates or graduate students in graphic design, marketing and public relations. Stage Management Internships
The internship is a season long paid position, working closely with the stage managers from pre-production through the final performance. Interns complete the internship with a thorough knowledge of both Equity and IATSE rules, and how to work effectively in a rotating repertory format. They also help prepare a production for technical rehearsals and maintain a production over an extended run.
