Some favorite designs include: The Boor for the FSU School of Music, The Seventeenth Man for the FSU Film School, and Scapino!, for the FSU School of Theatre. Other credits include: The Cherry Orchard, The Seagull, Suburbia, The Runner Stumbles, Catch Me if you Can, Butterflies are Free, Legends, Time Remembered, Stalag 17, and The Little Foxes. A recent stint in Los Angeles saw James design for independent film, TV commercials, music videos, and local theatre. He lists production designing a short film shot in the Universal Studios backlot as one of his favorite experiences while there. As Resident Designer for the Conservatory, James has designed Two Gentlemen of Verona, Boston Marriage, Love’s Fire, Island of Slaves, The Parisian Woman, This is Our Youth, The Bacchae, and Blue Window. He also has worked with The West Coast Black Theatre Troupe, designing Fences and Black Nativity. At last year’s Sarasota Film Festival, James designed the set for the Tom Osborne interview with Norman Jewison at The Historic Asolo Theater. In his spare time, James likes to paint, ride his bike at the beach and fish. He especially wishes to thank all those whose continuing support has helped him achieve his dreams and aspirations.
