Sarasota, FL – Asolo Repertory Theatre presents LADY by Craig Wright, the award winning playwright know for his thought evoking scripts both on stage and screen. The play features popular Asolo Rep resident actors David Breitbarth, Douglas Jones and James Clarke. Hal Brooks directs Lady, which is presented in the Cook Theatre from May 9 to June 1, 2008.

JANUARY 15, 2008 (Sarasota, FL) – Theatre Development Fund, a New York City based not-for-profit performing arts service agency has renewed their support of Asolo Repertory Theatre’s open captioned services for 2008. Open Captioning is designed to provide increased accessibility to hearing impaired audience members making it possible for them to enjoy a total theatre experience. In Sarasota and Manatee Counties it is estimated that there are more than 100,000 persons with hearing loss, making them members of the largest handicapped group in the nation.

NOVEMBER 2007 (Sarasota, Florida)–Asolo Repertory Theatre, Florida’s premier professional theatre, presents The Constant Wife, by W. Somerset Maugham. The play, which was recently revived on Broadway and created quite a stir among New York critics, comes to Sarasota. The Asolo Rep production of this delightful comedy is directed by Mark Rucker who was lauded last season for his work on Pride and Prejudice.Dana Green, in her Asolo Rep debut, plays Constance Middleton. Bryan Torfeh, who played Salieri in Amadeus last season, plays John Middleton. The play also features popular Asolo Rep resident actors – Carolyn Michel and Douglas Jones.

The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation Funds Asolo Rep’s New State-of-the Art Lighting and Sound System!

Sarasota, Florida (October 3, 2007) – Mounting a production like the pre-Broadway musical event A Tale of Two Cities requires a lot of assistance both on the stage and off. One of the major elements that made A Tale of Two Cities a reality was funds from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation which were used to replace aging sound and lighting equipment in the Mertz and Cook Theatres.
