Kicking off 'A Midwinter Night's Dream' on Siesta

Sarasota, FL - A gorgeous Florida fall night; a fantastic view from the north side of Siesta Key and the sparkling Sarasota skyline, along with an enthusiastic group of Asolo Theatre Company fans and supporters, helped to make a solid success of the Asolo’s “A Midwinter Night’s Dream” 2005 Gala kick-off party.

The event was held recently at the beautiful home of Stanley and Janet Kane. Upon arrival guests were greeted by three FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training students – Devon Pipar, Sarah Stockton and Ross Kidder – dressed in full Shakespearean regalia.

The enthusiastic crowd enjoyed a wonderful buffet catered by the Hyatt-Sarasota, cocktails and wine amidst a display of masks and centerpieces symbolizing the masked ball theme of the Asolo’s 2005 Gala, which will be held on Friday March 4,2005 at the Ritz-Carlton Sarasota.

Asolo Board President, Michael Hartenstine, and Asolo Development Committee Chair, Cary Findlay, encouraged the party goers to attend the Gala and to arrange tables with friends to help make the Asolo 2005 Gala a success.

The Asolo 2005 Gala co-chairs - Linda Roe Dickinson, Janet Kane and Joan Mendell, along with their husbands Dick, Stanley and Ira, were talking up the details of the upcoming 2005 Gala.  Anne Garlington, Simon Portnoy, Valerie Terris, Claudia and Alan Porter, Lee and Bob Peterson, Susan and Jim Buck, and Alfred and Adela Rose were among the Asolo Board of Directors members at the party.  Longtime Asolo supporter, Congresswoman Katherine Harris was also in attendance.

Producing Artistic Director, Howard Millman, told everyone about the new Asolo season. Excitement about the Asolo’s 2004-2005 season ran high with wonderful comments about the season opener Peter Pan.

The Asolo Gala is a benefit fundraising event that supports the Asolo's artistic mission and educational outreach programs.
