SARASOTA, FL -- Cherubim, celestial, guardian and several other categories of angels will be honored, recognized and celebrated at the ninth-annual Asolo Angels Halo Day Luncheon to be held on Monday, January 31, 2005 at Michael's On East. Tom Nunan, chair of the Asolo Angel Association, a major financial support group for the Asolo Theatre Company, announced the event today.
Celebrated Asolo Theatre Company actor Bradford Wallace and his wife Marian, the theatre’s production stage manager, will be the featured keynote speakers. The two will share their experiences, stories and anecdotes encompassing nearly thirty years at the Asolo.
Door prizes, raffles and a fashion show from Designing Women Boutique highlight the event, which will also feature an awards ceremony honoring Angels and others who have made special contributions to The Asolo Theatre Company. Angels will also learn recent updates and more news about the Asolo Theatre Company's exciting 2004/2005 season now underway, as well as details of upcoming Angel Association and Asolo Guild events.
"We use this occasion to thank our Angels for their outstanding support of the Asolo Theatre over the years,” Nunan said. "The 'Halo Day' luncheon is not a fund raiser; it's basically an opportunity for our Asolo Angels to be recognized and to celebrate together the excellent job they have done in support of the Asolo Theatre Company; and we warmly welcome their potential-Angel guests,” he concluded.
The Asolo Angels Halo Day Luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m.; tickets are $35 per person; for information about becoming an Angel, call Clare Ward-Jenkins in the Asolo Angel office at 351-9010, Ext. 4707.
The Asolo is funded in part by the Division of Cultural Affairs, Florida Department of State, The Florida Arts Council, the City and County of Sarasota and the Sarasota County Tourist Development Tax through the Board of County Commissioners, the Tourist Development Council, and the Sarasota Arts Council. The Asolo Theatre Company’s Shakespeare productions are sponsored in part by Shakespeare in American Communities, a national theater initiative sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and The Sallie Mae Fund in cooperation with Arts Midwest. Additional funding is also received through the efforts of support groups including the Asolo Angel Association, the Asolo Theatre Guild, The Directors Emeritus and the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations.
