ASOLO OPENS WITH THREE HITS IN NOVEMBER
LAUGHING STOCK – NOV 11,
ENCHANTED APRIL – NOV 18, and A CHRISTMAS CAROL – NOV 25
SARASOTA, FLORIDA (October 25, 2005) – The Asolo Theatre Company 2005-2006 Extraordinary Season opens in November with three great shows – Laughing Stock, Enchanted April, and A Christmas Carol. The November 11, 8:00 pm opening performance of Laughing Stock is followed by the Asolo’s Grand Season Opening Party - a “Mingle with the Stars” champagne reception that is free to those attending the opening show. Each subsequent opening night also features an opening night champagne reception after the show.
LAUGHING STOCK (Nov 11, 2005 – Feb 2, 2006) – written and directed by Charles Morey Visit the hilariously funny, behind-the-scenes world of summer stock theatre. As the “playhouse” attempts to produce Hamlet, Charley's Aunt and Dracula in rotating repertory, things go disastrously awry. The story is based on the author's many years producing and directing summer theatre in New England. This play will have you rolling with laughter.
ENCHANTED APRIL (Nov 18 – Feb 26) by Matthew Barber, from the novel by Elizabeth von Arnim Charming and uplifting – you will fall in love with this story of four Englishwomen whose friendship and lives blossom in the beauty of an Italian villa. This delightful romantic comedy inspires a conscious desire for joy and romance, and enjoyed great success on Broadway.
A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Nov 25 – Dec 29) by Charles Dickens, adapted by Barbara Redmond and Eberle Thomas Few seasonal events are as eagerly anticipated or as warmly received as this family holiday tradition. Discover the true meaning of Christmas along with Tiny Tim, Scrooge, and a host of other wonderfully familiar characters. Share the joy of this special experience with a new generation.
