MEDIA ALERT
THE GREAT GARDEN PULLOUT
Please join us on Saturday, September 30 beginning at 8:00AM (until complete)
for The GreatGarden Pullout – an Environmental Recycling Project
On Saturday, as part of our preparations for the new Mertz Garden to be planted in front of the Asolo Repertory Theatre building in October, we will be removing and recycling the current flora and fauna. Rather than destroy the current plant life, as so often is the case when new development occurs, we are recycling the plants. Most of the recycled plants will be used for Habitat for Humanity landscaping of new homes in our community.
This environmentally friendly and community conscious project is the team effort of Asolo Repertory Theatre along with the Sarasota Garden Club, Habitat for Humanity, the John and Mable Ringling Museum Horticulture department, Friendship Volunteer Center, and select local schools.
Asolo Rep spearheaded the project, the Sarasota Garden Club will direct the plant removal with help with volunteers from each of the organizations, and the Ringling horticulture department will oversee.
Additionally, Whole Foods is donating refreshments for the volunteers.
Photo Opportunities and Interviews will be available.
This is a great 'good news' story with spotlights on cooperation between organizations,
community service volunteering, and environmental responsibility.
Please contact Julia Guzman at Asolo Rep (941-351-9010 ext. 4800)
for contact details at each of the partner organization.
