Asolo Repertory Theatre Presents NOBODY DON’T LIKE YOGI
A One-Man Show Celebrating Yogi Berra’s Humor, Loyalty, and Wisdom
OPENS ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 5, 2007
(Sarasota, Florida) December 11, 2006 – Asolo Repertory Theatre, the first State Theatre of Florida and one of only four theatres in the country to perform in true rotating repertory, presents Nobody Don’t Like Yogi, by Thomas Lysaght. Opening on January 5, 2007, this one-man show is the second this season to be directed by Michael Donald Edwards. Nobody Don’t Like Yogi will be performed by Asolo Repertory in the acting company’s original performance space, The Historic Asolo Theater at the Ringling Museum.
This one-person show, starring David S. Howard, celebrates Yogi Berra’s humor, loyalty, and wisdom as he reflects on his baseball career and the great players that have worn pinstripes over the years. Berra’s malapropisms, which we call ‘Yogi-isms’, have become legendary. This play weaves together a portrait of a player, father, and friend, and demonstrates the importance of trusting your convictions.
David S. Howard plays Yogi. One of Asolo Repertory Theatre’s most beloved resident actors, David has been with the acting company for seventeen seasons. Last season he was seen as Richfield in Laughing Stock; Judge Biddle in Asolo Rep’s acclaimed production of Trying; and Judge Taylor in To Kill a Mockingbird.
