KALEIDOSCOPE 2007: UNWRITTEN

(SARASOTA, FL) - Asolo Repertory Theatre and Community Haven for Adults and Children with Disabilities (CHAC) are honored to announce that the Kaleidoscope musical theatre workshop will be changing lives once again this summer. Kaleidoscope is an innovative partnership between CHAC and Asolo Repertory Theatre. The summer workshop project kicks off with a special reception for participants in Asolo Rep’s main rehearsal hall on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from 10-11 AM. The media is invited to attend this reception.

The event kicks off the 2007 Kaleidoscope summer musical theatre workshop entitled: UNWRITTEN. The vision for the show is based on the concept that at every moment, our lives are unwritten and we have the power to script something new and exciting!  In "Unwritten" the Kaleidoscope actors will create an original production based on their ideas, dreams and aspirations while leaving the audience with inspirations for the future.

Performances are scheduled for Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30 at 7:00PM in the Asolo Rep’s Mertz Theatre at the RinglingCenter, 5555 N. Tamiami Trail.

Tickets to the show, which help pay for program costs, are $15 and can be purchased by calling the Asolo Rep Box office at 941-351-8000.

The production will feature the directing talents of Amanda Schlachter. In addition to Schlachter: CHAC's President/CEO Peggy Connell; Kaleidoscope Co-Directors, Marla Doss (CHAC Development Director) and Carrie Mills (Asolo Rep Education Director); Dance/Movement Instructor, Rachel Schwartz; Vocal Instructor/Musical Director, Liz DeVette; Visual Art Instructor/Kaleidoscope Clinician, Anny Barker-Schefler; Asolo Education Assistant, Maclain Looper; Volunteer Coordinator, Natalie Gundrum; and Kaleidoscope Clinician, Lindsay Letts.

This year's Kaleidoscope program continues to create an opportunity for groundbreaking theatrical work as Kaleidoscope staff members help the participants grow as performers and individuals. Clinical goals, set for each participant, are achieved through creative exploration, which strengthens a variety of communications skills and ultimately enriches their everyday lives.

Kaleidoscope is sponsored in part by Greenfield Foundation and Betsy Mitchell Family Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Inc.
